Miami International Airport travelers can now reserve and prepay for parking in the airport's Dolphin and Flamingo garages before they arrive, a new option aimed at making the garage stop less uncertain for local passengers and visitors.
Miami-Dade County posted the update on Monday, August 3, 2026. The airport says the reservation can be made up to one year in advance, with the driver receiving a confirmation email and QR code to scan when entering and leaving the garage.
The practical catch is simple: drivers who use the prepaid reservation should scan the QR code at the parking entrance and should not pull a ticket. MIA's parking instructions warn that pulling a ticket may lead to being charged again.
What changed
The prepaid option applies to the Dolphin and Flamingo garages, the two main terminal garages used by many passengers. Dolphin serves Concourses D and E, while Flamingo serves Concourses E through J, according to MIA's current parking guide.
The new reservation flow is different from the airport's older Quick Pay stations. Quick Pay lets customers pay inside the garage after parking and then move through the exit lane faster. The new update moves that decision earlier, letting travelers book and pay before the trip starts.
MIA says a reservation can be modified or canceled up to 24 hours before the reservation time, but the $2.99 reservation fee is not refundable. If a driver stays past the reserved time, the airport says the customer may need to pay the difference before exiting.

For travelers leaving from Miami during busy cruise, holiday, school-break, or international travel periods, the change gives one more way to plan the airport handoff before departure day. It does not guarantee that driving is cheaper than every off-airport option, but it can reduce one common uncertainty: whether to circle the garage, pull a ticket, or gamble on a last-minute plan when luggage, children, or an early flight make delays more costly. The airport's listed garage rate remains $2 for each 20 minutes, with a $25 maximum daily rate. MIA's Economy Park & Ride lot remains a cheaper on-airport option at $12 per day plus a small convenience fee, but it uses a shuttle instead of terminal-garage parking.

Travelers should match the garage to their airline before reserving. MIA's parking page points American Airlines, British Airways, JetBlue, and Qatar Airways passengers to Dolphin, while Flamingo is listed for other airlines using Concourses E through J.
Drivers should also check the reservation time carefully. The airport says customers who remain beyond the reservation window may owe the difference before they can exit, so a return flight delay could still affect the final parking cost.
